Cider

Old World
From the shores of the British Isles and Normandy comes the inspiration for this dry blend of bittersweet and bittersharp cider apples. 20 English and French heritage apples were chosen from Two K Farms orchards and combined to create this distinct cider. Its bold aromatic and soft tannins linger with a crisp sweet apple finish. The pubs of Britain and the cafes of France would delight in this European style cider.

Kingston Black
Kingston Black originates from the West Country cider-producing regions of England. Dating back to 1851, British cider makers consider Kingston Black “one of the most valuable cider apples” in England. The juice from the Kingston Black is of the highest quality providing the perfect balance of tannin, sweetness and acid. This is why the English consider the Kingston Black as the foremost apple for making a single-variety cider. This cider is rich with baked apple and caramel notes.

Russet
The origin of the russet apple can be traced back to colonial times. Before the advent of modern refrigeration systems, apples needed to store for many months without spoiling. The hardy russet skin allows this apple to be stored for 6 months or more! We use four different russet apple varieties in our Russet cider; Golden Russet, Pommes Gris, Hudson Golden Gem and Roxbury Russet (said to be older than the Constitution). This cider is well-balanced, imparting pear and nutty undertones from the skins, and finishes with a crisp apple flavor.

Spitzenburg
Esopus Spitzenburg was first discovered in the early 18th century near Esopus, New York. It was a favorite apple of Thomas Jefferson, who planted several trees at Monticello’s south orchard. It is a difficult tree to grow but is well worth the effort because of its unique flavor. One of the most prized American heritage apple varieties, with its complex aromatics, is akin to the traditional English cider apples. It is a light-bodied cider with silky notes of passionfruit, green apple and lemon grass.
